Sister Marie Fink, 98, a Franciscan Sister of the Congregation of Our Lady of Lourdes, Rochester, Minn., died at Assisi Heights, Rochester, on Sunday, December 28, 2008.
Born on January 20, 1910, in Rose Creek, Minn., Sister Marie entered the Sisters of St. Francis in 1927 from St. Peter Parish in Rose Creek, and made vows in 1928. Sister enjoyed forty-nine years of teaching in elementary and secondary schools in Southern Minnesota: Rollingstone, Sleepy Eye, Johnsburg, Austin, Rochester, Fairmont, and Waseca; the final fourteen years being at Lourdes High School in Rochester. Following her years of teaching, Sister Marie volunteered in the Admissions Office and served as Resource Librarian at the College of Saint Teresa in Winona. Sister retired to Assisi Heights in 1989 where she participated for a number of years in Assisi Heights ministries. Sister was known for her interest in other persons and for her outstanding qualities of kindness and generosity.
Sister Marie is survived by nieces, nephews and cousins as well as the members of her religious community with whom she shared life for 81 years.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, December 31, in the Chapel of Our Lady of Lourdes, Assisi Heights, Rochester.
