On Monday, December 22, 2008, a multiple car accident happened on Hwy. 14/61, just north of LaMoille. We passed the accident site just minutes after it happened; what a miracle that no one was killed. There have been many previous accidents and loss of life near this area. I remember two young teenagers who lost their lives near this spot. A few years ago, I was driving north on 14/61 with my snowplow truck, and a young girl driving south lost control of her car when she encountered ice and crossed over and hit my plow truck. Her car was totaled, but she was not hurt. Thank God! Isn’t it about time that the DOT, County Highway Department put up a metal guardrail so cars cannot slide into the northbound lanes? How many accidents or lives could be saved by a barrier?
