On Saturday, January 10, about 75 volunteers assisted in this year’s Christmas tree pickup as a public service project. Through the collaboration of a number of individuals, organizations, and businesses, this year’s project was very successful—gathering and disposing of nearly 700 trees.
The Kiwanis Club extends special thanks to area Boy Scouts and troop leaders and to the Winona Senior High School National Honor Society. Young people from these two organizations supplied the physical brawn to load the trees into trucks and trailers and unload them at the disposal sites.
The Sunrisers also thank those who furnished trucks and trailers for the project: Severson Oil; Modern Ready Mix (Steve Kohner); Tri-Mac (Dave McNally); Kendall Lumber (Steve Benson); Winona Nursery (Ron May); Mississippi Welders (Ron Haedtke); Pro-Build (Sean O’Laughlin); and Pat Kauphusman and George Sprang, both Kiwanis Sunrisers.
Food and beverages were provided by Sammy’s Pizza and Restaurant, Godfather’s Pizza, Domino’s Pizza, Pizza Hut, Little Caesars, Midtown Foods (Tom Thompson), and Bloedows. The Kiwanis Club extends a sincere thank you to these businesses for their support and generosity.
Also, we thank the city of Goodview and Dick Gallien (Winona Farm) for using their sites for tree disposal.
