Thanks! Now come garden with us!

(2/2/2014)

From: Chris Meyer

It seems a long time ago now, before the Polar Vortex began making visits to Winona, but it was just eight weeks ago that Bruce Reed and Dick and Susan Gallien helped the Education Gardens at Stone Point Park collect about 10 yards of leaves (around 350 bags) for use as compost and soil amendments. As an Extension Master Gardener, I want to say a big thank you for Bruce, Dick and Susan for their help in collecting the leaves! We are now putting together our gardening plans for 2014. Would you like to join us? We seek volunteer gardeners of any age to help with a communal plot where Master Gardeners will lead weekly gardening sessions with a lesson and tasks. Our gardeners will share in the produce and we will also be growing crops for donation to local food pantries and for the Winona Area Public School ‘Farm to School’ program. If your local group needs a service project. If you would like access to fresh local produce. If you’d like to spend some time in a beautiful place, come join us! In addition the Master Gardeners will be coordinating a series of five public workshops at the garden over the summer of 2014. You can visit our website to find out more http://winonaeducationgardens.weebly.com/, fill out a contact form, and come garden with us this summer.
