Members of the Winona community know that we have significant challenges. People of all ages and backgrounds are struggling to reach their full potential. More and more children face seemingly insurmountable learning gaps. Families find it difficult to spend quality time together. Playing outside has become a rarity. Face time happens through a phone.
But where society falls short, the Y – and our donors – step in. Together we make a difference in the lives of thousands of people and a huge impact on each individual we serve.
After serving Winona for 129 years, the Y understands what our community needs to be its best. We provide programs and services so that everyone has the opportunity to be healthy and thrive, to connect with others, and improve their total well-being. Everything we do is in service of making us – the individuals and families of our community – better.
As the year comes to a close the YMCA continues to raise resources to serve our community in line with our charitable mission. Each year 25 percent or more of our members and participants receive financial assistance to participate in Y programs. So far in 2015 that amount totals more than $151,455. Every dollar donated to the Y stays in this community and ensures our ability to have a lasting impact and keep our doors open to all. This support helps youth and families live healthier lives. It enables kids to do better in school and be safe around water. It provides seniors the opportunity to connect with others.
The Y is a community partner. We stand with other organizations to strengthen our community. Supporting the Y with a donation is a first step in making a difference and building a better us. For more information about how to support the Y, visit our website, stop in or call.
And to all of those who have donated to our service of the community, thank you. Your generous support has provided generations with the opportunity to learn and grow.
The Y. For a better you. For a better community. For a better us.
