According to a recent Winona Post, the school board is not satisfied with a community survey about keeping the (five) elementary schools open. They want additional input regarding year round school — and air conditioning.
It seems to me that if we maintain our present nine-month school year, we don’t need A/C in our school buildings. That alone could save taxpayers millions of dollars. Plus, it doesn’t make sense to me to build a $40 million school building that we don’t need. We are not utilizing the buildings we have. In addition to that, the buildings we do have are well built and have served us well. So it makes more sense to me to just keep and maintain what we have.
