My wife and I, on Monday, December 18, went to see our grandson at the Reading Olympics ceremony. We have now seen our grandson and granddaughter participate in this program. The night started with the singing of the National Anthem. It was sure nice to see a gym full of people singing along. That night the fourth grade students were recognized for the many books they read in the Reading Olympics program. They all received certificates and gold medals. Two groups were mentioned for their support of the program also: the Eagles Club and the Sons of the American Legion. I would like to thank teachers Jennifer Woyczik, Amanda Indra and Victor Pinon who have continued the Reading Olympics program started 37 years ago by retired teacher Steve Waltzer. It was a very enjoyable night at one of Winona’s neighborhood schools, Madison School. Thanks to all for a great night.
