Although I am not a resident of Wisconsin or Minnesota, my mother was born and grew up in tiny Cochrane and graduated from the University of Wisconsin. I spent my summers visiting my grandparents until I attended university in Indiana, and have always maintained contact with relatives in the Cochrane area. They send me clippings from your newspaper.
You have been running a series of letters entitled ”Silver Star” from the son of a World War II veteran, which are invaluable as insight into the real world of those valorous soldiers who sacrificed their time and, perhaps, lives for our country. This man, Glen Palecek, seems well informed, and I would hope that he forwards copies/originals of these letters to the Smithsonian Museum of History to add to their archives. These are very important, and it is our duty to see that they are included.
