American farmers need stable markets, not handouts

It is well known that Donald Trump and his associates paid hush money to numerous women to buy their silence. Now, the Trump administration is trying to use the same tactic to buy the votes of farmers prior to 2018 mid-term elections.

Trump’s tariffs have crashed markets for soybeans, hogs, corn and other farm commodities. In an admission that their policies are failing, USDA Secretary Sonny Perdue announced a $12-billion bailout for soybean farmers. This new Republican welfare program doesn’t sit well with farmers, or with taxpayers.

Where will the money come from and where will it go, one might ask? Will it go to average family farmers, or will it go to large corporate farms, agribusinesses and exporters?

How will these bailouts restore America’s credibility as a reliable trading partner?

America’s farmers need stable markets, not hush money or handouts!
