The Houston Apollo Music Festival that ran from August 24 to September 1 this year was amazingly beautiful. My husband and I saw a little blurb in the newspaper about these free classical performances. This year the four main-stage events featured Russian music, the music of Beethoven, British music, and a program of “Viennese Transfiguration.” The Cross of the Christ Lutheran Church provided excellent acoustics. We came early and enjoyed front-row seats just two yards from the performers. The music was outstanding due to the world-class artists playing. The pre-concert talk or “live” program notes helped us to know the music deeper than just an auditory experience and the after the concert reception allowed us to better know the chamber music artists. It was a thrilling experience and our friends and we look forward to next year’s Apollo Music Festival on August 23-31, 2019. Free-will donations are gratefully accepted: Apollo Music Festival, P.O.
