Matter of Faith: Promises made, promises kept

From: Philip Sorensen

Politicians tend to make all kinds of promises as they campaign for election. They all sound good and believable. Some are kept and others are lost in the shuffle. I will give our President credit that he has been able to keep some of his promises. He has faced some really rough situations in regards to Saudi Arabia and the crisis on our southern border. Also, our nation has faced some of the most devastating hurricanes and wildfires in our history. When help has not come quickly enough, there has been a lot of criticism. But that’s nothing new. Human nature has responded that way since time began, even with God.

The promise of a Messiah waited 4,000 years. But at just the right time, God sent forth his Son to redeem us from the curse, the law we had broken (Galatians 4:4). God always keeps his promises. The Psalmist wrote, “As for God, His way is perfect. All of His promises have proven true. He is a shield for all who look to Him for protection,” Psalm 18:30. God loves you more than you know. He invites us to come to His throne of grace in prayer to receive His love and forgiveness, and find grace to help us in our needs (Hebrews 4:16). Call on Him today; He is waiting to hear from you.
