While the signs of the times prophesied in Scripture seem to indicate we are nearing the end of the age and Christ’s return is fast approaching, we all face eternity one way or another. Where will you spend it? Most hope for Heaven, or at least a better place. But Heaven is a prepared place for prepared people.
Jesus’ disciples asked him, “Will only a few be saved?” In Matthew 7, he told them that Heaven’s gate was narrow and the way into life difficult. And few would find it. In verses 21-23, he said that many, like migrants at our southern border, would demand admission, saying “Lord, Lord, we were very religious and did some wonderful deeds,” but God will say, “Go away, I don’t know you!” There will be weeping and bitter anguish. The sentence is final. Can we know for certain that Heaven’s gate will be open for us? Absolutely!
The Apostle John wrote, “He who has the Son has eternal life,” I John 5:12. Without him, we are lost. He stands at the door of your heart knocking, Revelation 3:20. Don’t keep him waiting. Invite him in. Then nurture that relationship by spending time with him in reading his word and talking to him in prayer. Attending a good church will encourage you in your faith. Try it!
