Bowling is still alive in Winona

From: Dawn Bronk

Westgate Bowl

Even with the unfortunate closing of one bowling alley in Winona, bowling in still going strong. We have moved most of the leagues to Westgate Bowl and combined a few of them. With the combined men’s and women’s boards last year, we have brought together several strong and dedicated people to the Winona bowling community. Each year, we put on two fundraisers, the funds of which go to youth bowlers to either pay for tournaments or scholarships for college. Youth as young as five years old can receive scholarship money for their college tuitions. This money builds up until they graduate, and will then go directly to the college or their choice. The board meets about once a month to work on making our bowling community stronger. We will be offering Kids Bowl Free Day on Sunday, August 25, from 12-4 p.m. at Westgate Bowl, where kids and their parents can bowl up to two games for free. There will be coaches there to talk about youth bowling — and there are also still some adult openings available. If interested, contact Westgate Bowl at 454-1111 or Nordic Lanes in Rushford at 507-864-7799.

Bowling is fun for all ages; all skill levels are welcomed.
