WSU awards
Winona State University's Department of Health and Human Performance
(HHP) held its fifth annual Senior Recognition and Scholarship
Awards Ceremony Thursday, May 2, at the WSU Alumni House.
Timothy Gaspar, Dean of the WSU College of Nursing and Health
Sciences, and Randy Miller, Chair of WSU's HHP department, joined
faculty and staff to honor the HHP class of 2002. HHP department
representatives presented awards to its six scholarship recipients
for the 2002-03 academic year.
Receiving the Randolph W. Miller Exercise Science Scholarships
were Sara Bauer, of Menomonie, Wis., and Carin Christianson,
of Taylor, Wis. Leah Gagnon, of Two Rivers, Wis., was the recipient
of the newly established Athletic Training Alumni scholarship.
Three scholarships recipients were honored in the area of School
and Community Health. Receiving the Luther McCown Scholarship
was Adam Ronnenberg, of Byron, Minn. Sara Bauer, of Menomonie,
and Rebecca Kjeldsen, of Apple Valley, Minn., received the James
& Margaret Browning Scholarships.
Jill Deck, of Fountain City, Wis., received the Outstanding Undergraduate
Major of the Year for Health Education. Jill's name was then
forwarded to the National American Alliance of Health Education
where she also received an award given at the American Alliance
of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance Convention.
Summer music camp at WSU
Winona State University's Music Department is hosting its
Summer Instrumental Chamber Ensembles Music Camp for high school
students entering grades 9-12, Sunday, June 23 through Friday,
June 28, 2002, in the Performing Arts Center on the WSU campus.
The cost for the entire week is $275, which includes housing
and full meal plan in the university residence halls. Scholarships
are available to qualified students.
