Virtual learning 'rising star'

At a string of recent board meetings, District 861 officials have grappled with issues of declining enrollment and rising educational expenses. It is, they say, a crisis of mammoth proportions. Each student, or lack thereof, represents money, and money operates the district. School board members have long wondered aloud how they will continue to operate a quality educational system if the student population continues to dwindle.
