Greg Lemmer, of the Winona County Sheriff's Mounted
posse, received a 20-years service award from Sheriff Dave Brand
Friday. Lemmer has served since 1983 and is still an active
member. He also says being able to help the community is the
best part about volunteering with the Posse. Brand also says
the Posse is currently seeking volunteers.
Bluffview Montessori to close down during MPCA excavation
Bluffview Montessori School will voluntarily close down Jan.
27 through Jan. 29 when contaminated soil will be removed from
the Leaf's Cleaners site, one block from the school, on Gilmore
Avenue.

School tax to go down
Referendum dollars from Question 2 to be returned
A reduction in the Winona school district's operating referendum
is the main reason taxpayers will see a 20 percent reduction
in the school portion of their 2003 property tax levy, WAPS fiscal
affairs director Jeff Seeley told school board members Thursday
night.
