Local writer and Shakespeare fan shares his insights into Hamlet (the play and the character) and compares the sweet prince to Batman (movies mostly, but some other mediums too, graphic novels, video games, etc)

10:00 am Shred Day
The Cintas Shred Truck will be onsite to safely destroy your personal, confidential documents. Staples and paperclips do not have to be removed, and there is no limit to the amount of paper allowed for shredding. All shredded documents are recycled and turned into various paper products. Suggested items to shred include out-of-date bank statements, tax returns, credit card receipts, insurance records, and any documentation containing your name with telephone number, street address, or e-mail address. This event is part of Winona National Bank's week-long Community Open House May 19-24, 2014.


4:30 pm Spaghetti Dinner & Silent Auction
Ready Set School is hosting a Spaghetti Dinner & Silent Auction at the Eagles Club in Winona on May 22nd – 4:30-7:30 PM. You may eat there or take it to go. No cooking, no dishes… Just a relaxing Thursday night! Tickets may be purchased at the following locations: - Any Winona County School - Blooming Grounds - Winona Mall - Community Education at Central School Ready Set School gave over $47,000 to Winona County Schoolchildren last year to help them purchase the school supplies and clothing needed to succeed in school.


12:30 pm Adoption Info Meeting
Adoption is a great way to start or expand your family. Catholic Charities will be offering an opportunity for people to gain information about adoption through an informational meeting. Anyone thinking about adoption is encouraged to attend in order to get more information about what the process involves. Additional information can be found at www.ccwinona.org. A meeting will be held at the Winona Catholic Charities office, 111 Market Street Suite 2, on Tuesday, May 22nd at 12:30pm. Anyone interested in attending or who has questions should call Jodi at 507-454-2270 ex 228. If this meeting does not work for you, please call to set up an individual meeting. Catholic Charities serves people of all denominations and faiths.

On Saturday, May 31st, 2014, Hiawatha Valley Mental Health Center will be hosting our 3rd Annual 5K and Baby K at Jaycee's Pavilion in Winona, with an addition of a Family Benefit, to create awareness and fundraise for our Youth and Adolescent Programs. Following the 5K and BabyK, we invite families to play some minute-to-win-it games, listen to music, and participate in additional family fun activities at the Family Benefit!
