The Grace Place Stores in Winona and Rushford are getting ready for fall merchandise! We will be having a bag sale from August 13-September 8, 2012. The first week it will be all the clothing you can fit into a brown bag for $3; $2 the next week; and $1 the following 2 weeks. Come in shop, and get to know the Grace Place Ministry.

7:30 am Friends of the Winona Public Library Bake Sale
Please support your local library by donating and/or purchasing home-baked items. Donations may be dropped off at 1003 W. Howard on August 17. Friends of the Library will sell baked goods, youth t shirts, totes, lemonade and iced tea at our Farmers Market booth on Saturday, August 18. Proceeds go to support youth and adult reading programs and library collections.

We are excited to have COLLEEN GAU Co-author of Uplift: A History of the Bra in America. Colleen will discuss textiles from a conservator's view and demonstrate the cleaning of our valued textiles.
Colleen is an Expert in textiles and clothing, with emphasis on conservation. Ms. Gau has a Doctorate, History of Clothing and Textiles, Iowa State University 1998.
In Uplift: A History of the Bra in America Jane Farrell-Beck and Colleen Gau use this item of clothing to gauge the social history of women and to understand the business history of fashion. Viewing fashion as a means to entertainment, self-creation, and everyday art, the authors illuminate the effect the brassiere has had on women's lives—their style, health, and economic opportunity.
