Preston Lawing, chair of the Art and Design Department at Saint Mary's University, was commissioned to produce and design one of 35 boot statues for the Red Wing Shoe Company's 100th anniversary this summer.
His boot, "Little Yellow Corvette" is on display in front of RedWing Motors through October.
The statues " which can be viewed at www.redwingbootstatues.com " are on display throughout Red Wing. They are sponsored by more than 50 businesses and organizations in the community. The larger-than-life statues are replicas of Red Wing Shoe's famous No. 877. Each boot measures approximately 4 feet tall, 4 feet long and 2 feet wide, weighs about 50 pounds and is constructed out of fiberglass.
