Did you know? (12/12/2005)

From: John Schreiber
How many Catholics today know that in the 1962-65 Second Vatican Council attempt to modernize the Catholic Church was to downplay the Virgin Mary's role in the church. This is taken from Time magazine cover story "The Search for Mary" (Dec. 30, 1991, page 66). "The effects of that downplaying have rippled through the observances of the church to the point that Mary's statues have been removed from some sanctuaries and Catholic parishes have gradually reduced the traditional novena devotions to the Virgin. John Paul always thought the reconsideration went too far."
