Harsdorf to speak at Ag Alliance 6th Annual Meeting (01/16/2006)
The Southeast Minnesota Ag Alliance will be holding its sixth annual meeting on January 16th, 2006, at 11:30 A.M., at the Ramada Hotel and Conference Center (formerly Best Western Apache) in Rochester, MN. Keynote speaker for the event will be Jim Harsdorf. Harsdorf, a Minnesota native, served as Wisconsin's Secretary of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection under former Governor Scott McCallum. Harsdorf operates Trim-Bel Valley Dairy, a 220-cow Registered Holstein herd near River Falls, WI.

Immediately following the meeting, Donna Moenning, Director of Industry Relations for the Midwest Dairy Association, will conduct a media training workshop: Lessons from the Media to Make Every Conservation Count. Moenning has over 20 years experience in agriculture media and has media trained hundreds of producers and industry leaders. Prior to joining MDA in 2004, Moenning was "on-air" with KROC and Y105 radio stations in Rochester for 9 years.

The Southeast Minnesota Ag Alliance was started in 2001 by a core group of farmers and agribusiness owners and employees. The founding members began the organization with a common vision of protecting the viability of all types of agriculture and ag-related industries in southeast Minnesota while continuing to care for and protect the environment. Since its inception, the organization has coordinated a variety of activities and projects consistent with its vision. The organization encompasses 9 counties in southeast Minnesota.

Cost for the meal, speaker and media training is $15. For more information, please call 507-951-8707.
