Teacher of the Year candidate field narrowed to 27 (02/12/2006)

The field of possible recipients for this year's Minnesota Teacher of the Year honor has been narrowed to 27. A selection panel of 22 community leaders meeting in St. Paul had the difficult task of choosing the semifinalists from an initial field of 119 candidates from across the state. The panel will meet again near the end of March to select about 10 finalists from among the group of semifinalists. The current Minnesota Teacher of the Year, Glen Sorenson, will announce his successor at a banquet at The Northland Inn and Conference Center in Brooklyn Park on May 7.

Semifinalists in this year's program include Karen Anderson of Lewiston-Altura.
