Ice fishing fun for kids planned (00/00/2006)
Children ages 6-13 will discover the fun and excitement of fishing through the ice at the Ice Fishing Day Clinic to be held Saturday, February 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lake Park Lodge, Lake Winona. This event, sponsored by the Friends of the Upper Mississippi River Refuges and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will pair kids with experienced anglers to assist them with a hands-on ice fishing experience. Participants will also learn about ice safety, dressing for winter and fish identification.

Bait, fishing rods and a warm lunch will be provided.

All participants must preregister. Registration is limited so parents and guardians sign up your children right away at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge, 51 East Fourth Street, Room 100 (Exchange Building), Winona. Call the Upper Mississippi River NW&FR office at 507-494-6221 for additional information.
