The University of Minnesota is offering a regional horse owner education program Saturday, February 18th it will begin at 10:00 am (registration at 9:30 am) and end at 3:00 pm. and is being held at the Town and County Vet Clinic South of Winona. The program offers unbiased, researched based information and knowledgeable speakers identified specifically for this location by a committee of local horse experts and enthusiasts. The program is for educational purposes only and no vendors will be present.
The topics are as follows: pasture management, recreational trail riding, first aid, chiropractic 101, halter horses, dentistry, bits 101, stable vices, savvy horse selection, equine law, western pleasure and microchipping demo. Also National Animal Identification System and impacts on equine markets and owners will be discussed at the program. Speakers for these programs include University of Minnesota faculty and staff as well as local veterinarians and horse professionals.
Pre-registration is required for the program. The cost to attend each program is $25.00 per person which includes lunch and printed materials. Dairy Roundtable to Meet
The Houston County Dairy Roundtable and Monsanto are presenting a seminar "Ten Ways to Increase Profits without Expanding", followed by time to ask general questions about dairy related topics. The speaker will be Dr. Mark Armfelt, Technical Service Veterinarian with Monsanto Dairy Business.
The seminar will be held on Wednesday, February 22nd at Good Times Restaurant in Caledonia. A buffet meal will be served from 12:00 - 1:00 pm. The Educational Seminar will take place from 1:00 - 3:00pm. Please RSVP with the Extension Office if you will be attending (507) 725-5807. The meal is sponsored by Monsanto.
