Have you ever been lost on your own property? Have you tried to return to a favorite deer stand or fishing hole, only to be unable to find it? Global Positioning Systems, or GPS, can help you to navigate with confidence. If you have a new GPS unit or are thinking of buying one, this class may be for you. We'll start with the basics. At the end of the day you'll be able to use a GPS unit to calculate area, navigate to a waypoint, and more. (GPS units provided for use during the class.) Dress for the weather, parts of this session will be outside.
Two "How to Use a GPS Receiver" classes will be held in southern Minnesota: Saturday, March 11, 2006 from 8:30-4:30 at the Izaac Walton League Lodge in Rochester and Saturday, March 25, 2006 from 8:30-4:30 at the Southern Research and Outreach Center (SROC) in Waseca. Participants need attend only one class. These sessions are open to the public for a fee of $35; they include lunch and provide credit for the Woodland Advisor Program.
