The 12th Annual Chili Cook-off sponsored by Winona National Bank on Saturday, February 11, raised $1595.25 in sales for Ready Set School. Cash donations of $5619.55 were also raised at the event, for a total of $7214.80.
Sixteen businesses donated a total of 17 chilies. All of the chilies were judged by a celebrity panel of judges and by the public.
The public voted Betty Jo Byoloski's the best overall chili.
The celebrity judges chose the following winners:

3rd place Good Harvest Café
Mild category
1st place Jefferson's Pub & Grill
2nd place Culvers
3rd place Prime Steak ‘n Cake
The celebrity judges included: Jeni Arnold of mediawerks, Dr. Jeff Cooper of River Hills Dental, Darrell Ehrlick of Winona Daily News, Craig Junker of Cotter Schools, Pastor Jeff Franko of Central Lutheran Church, Winona County Commissioner Dave Stoltman, and Maggie Modjeski of Winona Community Foundation.
Other restaurants who participated in the event were: Abby's Soda Jerk, Beier's Family Restaurant, Blooming Grounds Coffee House, Bub's Brewing Co., Charlie's D&D, Hy-Vee, Kensington Café, Midtown Foods, Putnam Gray's, and Wellington's.
Ready Set School was created to ensure that all Winona County children have the basic and necessary school supplies to better succeed in school. Up to 2000 children in our county may come from families that lack the financial resources to provide supplies to their kids. Ready Set School is there to help those children.
