The Pacesetter Region One Basketball Tournaments for boys and girls in grades 5-9 have been scheduled for Rochester, Spring Valley, and Elgin.
The 5th grade boys and girls will be held at Elgin-Millville High School April 1, and the 6th grade boys and girls will be held in Spring Valley April 1. The 7th, 8th, and 9th grade girls will be held at Rochester Mayo on Saturday, April 22, and the 7th, 8th, and 9th grade boys will be held at Rochester RCTC on April 15.
The Pacesetter regional tournaments are the first stage of the 8-region statewide play-off system for the Pacesetter State Youth Basketball Championships, which have been conducted throughout Minnesota since 1993, involving over 800 teams annually.
Other Minnesota regional sites include Mankato State University (Region 2), SW MN State University (Region 3), College of St. Benedict (Region 4), New London-Spicer schools (Region 5), Wadena-Deer Creek schools (Region 6), Eveleth-Gilbert and Virginia schools (Region 7), and Bemidji State University (Region 8).
Top teams are invited to post-season tournaments in the summer. The winners are invited to the Pacesetter State Basketball Championship, the runners-up to the Pacesetter Minnesota Invitational Tournament, and all regional teams to the Pacesetter Open. All of these post-season tournaments are held at the College of St. Benedict in the St. Cloud area.
