Is child sexual abuse a social health epidemic in Minnesota? Is child sexual abuse preventable?
Winona Voice Of The Faithful urges everyone concerned about these questions to attend a public meeting on February 23rd. Winona VOTF is sponsoring an informational meeting on child sexual abuse awareness, improving prevention laws, and establishing a collaborative program to protect our children from sexual abuse.
The meeting will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2006, at 7:00 p.m., at the Winona Arts Center, 228 East Fifth St (Corner of 5th & Franklin Streets)
Bob Schwiderski, Board Member, Survivors Network Minnesota, Tom Harbinson, Senior Attorney, National Child ProtectionTraining Center, WSU, Ann Lindstrom, Education Coordinator, Stop It Now! Minnesota, Barb Sorum, Southern Minnesota Program Coordinator, Prevent Child Minnesota
It's time to protect our children from sexual abuse. It's time to provide public awareness of the personal and social damages of sexual abuse. It's time for legislators to have factual knowledge about the health epidemic of sexual abuse. It's time to identify the perpetrators and those that shield or protect them. It's time to work together to prevent child sexual abuse.
Contact Jim Hanzel (507-454-5388) with questions about the February 16th meeting.
VOICE OF THE FAITHFUL-Winona aims to support survivors of clergy sexual abuse, to support priests of integrity, and to work for structural changes in Church culture that contributed to the crisis. All concerned Catholics and the families or friends of the abused are invited. Visit our website at www.winonavotf.org or call Cheryl Verbeke at 507-452-3012 for more information.
