Women of Spirit Programs in March and April (02/23/2006)
"Women of Spirit," a group that provides programs to support women's spirituality in the Winona area, is collaborating with Winona Health to offer two Friday evening programs in March and April. Each program is scheduled from 6:45-8:30 pm at Central United Methodist Church, 114 West Broadway, and costs $10.

On Friday, March 10, Dr. John Williams, PhD, will present "The Paradoxes of Forgiveness: Building Bridges across the Fault Lines of Our Lives." Williams, a licensed marriage and family therapist, will address the meaning of forgiveness and its connections to healing and reconciliation. According to Williams, "The weaving of forgiveness takes different directions, whether it is asking forgiveness of another, forgiving oneself, or forgiving someone else. In each of these, do the tasks vary? There are interweaves between deep emotions, healing, repairing trust, and forgiveness that underscore the delicate or difficult challenge we face in building bridges across the fault lines of our lives." This program on forgiveness is open to both women and men and the registration deadline is March 8.

On Friday, April 7, Virginia Laken and Beth Halleck will guide women through an experience of "Women's Sacred Circles" and share resources for developing them. This mother-daughter pair started a women's sacred circle two years ago because of an undeniable desire to connect with other women as in generations past. Halleck explains, "Sacred circles provide women an opportunity to explore spirituality within a model that has its origins in women's hearthwork." The registration deadline is April 5.

Registration brochures are available at the Winona Public Library, the Community Memorial Hospital reception desk, the Women's Resource Center front desk, and all entrances at St. Mary's Church.

For more information about the March 10 session on "Forgiveness," contact Kathy Redig at 452-1089 or rkredig@hbci.com . For more information about the April 7 session on "Women's Sacred Circles," contact Beth Halleck at 474-6117 or bhalleck@hbci.com.
