Junior Open Bonspiel begins Dec. 5 (11/30/2003)
The Centerville Curling Club's Annual Junior Open Bonspiel will begin Friday Evening Dec 5th, with curling all day Saturday and Sunday, concluding with finals on Sunday afternoon, Dec 7th. There are already 20 teams from three states and the local club on the roster for the two division Bonspiel. Included in the field will be the Chris Plys Rink from Duluth, MN. The Plys Rink is coming off the win at the Junior B Challenge in Bemidji, MN and is guaranteed entry into the Junior National Curling Championships to be held in Centerville Jan 31st - Feb 7th, 2004. In addition, entry has been received from the Aileen Sormunen Women's Junior Team from Duluth . Sormunen is looking strong in the local competitve Duluth League carrying a 2-0 record. There will also be five young junior teams from the Blackhawk Curling Club in Janesville, WI. The local Delaney Centerville rink has done some re-shuffling after the B Challenge. Curling on the team will be Delaney holding the broom and throwing third; Daniel Lilla, vice and shooting fourth; Chris Kramer, second; and John Lilla, lead.
