The Cotter High School Bands will present their annual Spring Band Concert on Sunday, March 12 at 2:00 p.m. in St. Cecilia Theatre. The Cotter Symphonic and Concert Bands, under the direction of Dave Gudmastad, will perform a variety of music from contemporary to classical.
The Concert Band's repertoire will include the contest works, "Where the Black Hawk Soars" and
"Flight of Valor." They will also perform "Londonderry Air," a tribute to the upcoming St. Patrick's Day, as well as a fanfare and a march.
The Symphonic Band will perform their contest pieces, "Dedicatory Overture" and "Scarborough Fair." They will also play "Old Churches," a selection based on Gregorian chant, and "The Big Cage," a circus march by the renowned Iowa composer, Karl L. King.
The concert is free and open to the public.
COTTER CHOIRS TO PRESENT SPRING CONCERT
The Cotter High School Music Department will present a Spring Choir Concert on Tuesday, March 14th at 7:30 PM in the St. Cecilia Theatre. Performing groups will include the Cotter High School Concert Choir, Cotter Junior High School Choir, and Cotter High School Show Choir. Cotter High School Concert Choir selections include "Hark I Hear The Harps Eternal" arranged by Parker, "The Beggerman", an Irish folktune and "Ashokan Farewell", a song written for the PBS series on Civil War, and more. The Concert Choir selections are more of a contest type repertoire in preparation for Large Group Music Contest on March 21st. The Cotter Show Choir will also perform. Their selections are of a more popular nature, and will include "I'll Be There", made popular by the Jackson 5, and "Happy Together". The Cotter High School choirs are
under the direction of Cathy Snyder. Mark Roeckers is the accompanist. The Junior High School Choir will also present several selections. They include "Consider Yourself" from the musical, Oliver , "Go For Baroque", a medley of Baroque tunes and more. The concert is open to the public and admission is free.
