ADULT SOFTBALL REGISTRATION DEADLINE-MARCH 13TH

Last chance for teams to sign up for Winona Park & Rec. Adult softball is Monday, March 13. Informal letters have been sent out to all of last year's managers of the adult softball teams. If you were a manager last year and did not receive the information, stop in our office in City Hall and pick up the informational packet, or call us and we will send it to you. Any new teams wanting the information may do the same. "Last year's teams" had through February 27th to register and claim their spot in their designated division. "New team" registration began March 1st and goes through March 13th. (Both "returning" and "new" teams must be registered by March 13th.) Special Note: "Last year's teams who register late during the "New team" registration time, if accepted will be accessed an additional $50.00 fee! Also, any teams after the final deadline will be accessed a $50 additional fee for their late registration if accepted and openings are available. Reminder: Managers, upon registering your team you will be required to pay your total team fees and turn in the preliminary roster form. Absolutely no fee will be accepted from your sponsor unless the registration form is with or vise versa. Reminder: A "new team" is considered to be a team with less than 5 players returning from your previous year's roster. Each league is limited to a specific number of teams, so don't wait until the last minute to register. We are again offering Men's, Women's, Co-Rec., Men's Church and Men's 35 and Over leagues. NOTE: New this year: We will be offering a Co. Rec. 50 & Over League playing on Sunday evenings. More specific information regarding game balls, legal bats, player eligibility, etc. is included in the manager's informational letter. DO NOT MISS THE SPECIFIC DEADLINES.

MSF-ASA CERTIFIED ADULT SOFTBALL UMPIRES NEEDED

The Winona Park Recreation Department is in need of ASA-MSF certified Adult Softball Umpires to work our adult softball games. We anticipate our leagues beginning the last week in April or first week in May ending in mid to late August. You must be ASA Certified to work any or our league games! To receive certification information you must contact the Minnesota Sports Federation (MSF) office at 1-888-222-6731 and they will send you the necessary information. You must attend a mandatory rules interpretation meeting; this MSF-ASA Umpire Certification Clinic has been set for Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at 7:30 p.m. at Lake Lodge here in Winona. We will have our local umpire's meeting prior to the certification clinic from 6-7:15 p.m. to discuss the local rules and expectations plus discuss league assignments. If you are interested in working our adult softball leagues, please stop in at the Park Rec. office in City Hall to pick up a job application and the umpire availability form as soon as possible or call our office at 457-8258 and we will send you the forms. Officials will receive $17.85 per game and will usually have 2 games per night, except Sundays you will probably have 3 games. Our goal this year also is to have all umpires CPR/First Aid certified. We will try to inform you of these "free" certified class times.
