St. Matthew's Lutheran School will be celebrating National Lutheran Schools Week the week of March 6-11. The general theme this year is "Lutheran Schools: A Great Place to Grow" with a sub-theme of "Developing Disciples." Each day special activities will be held to celebrate our heritage and privilege of assisting our parents in offering Christian education on a daily basis.
On Monday we will celebrate with "Hats Off to Lutheran Schools and our Neighbors." Special goodie bags will be prepared to be distributed to the neighbors of our school. On Tuesday we will discuss how we grow in our prayer lives. Each student will provide a prayer that will be posted in his or her own home congregation. On Wednesday we will review our Lutheran heritage in a chapel service that will include a hymn-sing and a visit from Martin Luther. On Thursday we will talk about the ways we grow in education and in school pride. On Friday we will have a special red-white-and-blue day as our lyceum will concentrate on patriotism and how we may grow in service and love for our country. On Saturday we will be participating in the Science and Fine Arts Fair at Luther High School with student involvement in a science fair, forensics, and piano and instrumental performance.
St. Matthew's Lutheran School is supported by St. Matthew's Winona, Goodview Trinity, St. Luke's Pickwick, Trinity Wilson, First Lutheran Minnesota City, and Grace Ridgeway.
