On Saturday, February 11, 2006, the Zumbrota/Mazeppa school district held a youth team wrestling tourament in Zumbrota, Mn. A team consists of 15 wrestlers who cover weights from #45 - #125 pounds and is run like a high school meet. Winona Area Youth Wrestling Club sent a team to compete in this tournament and placed 4th out of 5 teams present. Winona did very well for our 1st time in a team tournament. Congratulations!
On Saturday, February 11, 2006, at 4:30 pm. Winona Area Youth Wrestling Club members met at the Sr. High and boarded a bus (joining the wrestlers who competed in the Z/M team tournament) and headed to La Crosse for the annual overnight trip. The children enjoyed pizza and playing at the hotel's indoor water park! The next morning everyone boarded the bus and rode to Central High School to compete in the La Crosse youth wrestling tournament. La Crosse also had a team tournament available and Winona entered a team. The Winona team ended up placing 4th out of 15 teams! These wrestlers recieved the following awards:
Kindergarten: Sam Spring 2nd place; Anakin Hazelton 4th place
1st Grade: Evan Mohan 1st place; Mason Henke 3rd place
2nd Grade: Carl Rackow 2nd place; Tristan Penic 2nd place; Derrick Erickson 2nd place; Anthony Henderson 3rd place; Collin Schultz 3rd place; Christopher Wisted 4th place; Dillon Kreidermacher 4th place
3rd Grade: Steven Nelson 1st place; Cody Perry 2nd place; Jesse Cisewski 2nd place; Jacob Timm 3rd place; Jeremy Roberts 3rd place; Blake Budnick 4th place; Jordan Johnson 4th place; Adrianna Rackow 5th place
4th Grade: Josh Rackow 4th place; Kaleb Lehnertz 4th place; Bradley Budnick 4th place; Tristan Drazkowski 4th place
5th Grade: Ryan Schultz 1st place; Jordan Kaehler 3rd place; Isaac Parma-Gady 4th place; Cole Wilhite 4th place
