Saved from Jesus (04/23/2006)
From: Bill Steidtmann

E: You need Jesus Christ to save you from your sins.

U: But I like sinning. A trip to Sin City is my favorite.

E: What I mean is you need to be saved from the consequences of your sin.

U: Sex, booze, entertainment, and money? I don't want to be saved from that.

E: No, I'm talking about the punishment for your sins.

U: Someone wants to punish me for my sins?

E: Yes, God might torment you forever.

U: I need Jesus Christ to save me from God?

E: No, no, no...

U: And I thought you believe that Jesus is God.

E: He is.

U: So then I need Jesus to save me from Jesus.

E: No, no, no. God is just doing what he has to, but what he wants is to save you.

U: God has to punish me and act contrary to his own will? Why?

E: Because of your sins. Jesus died to pay for your sins.

U: Was he successful?

E: Yes, all your sins are fully paid for.

U: God forces God to do what God doesn't want to do and punish me for the sins that Jesus fully paid for?

E: No, God has to punish you for not believing.

U: I thought it was for trips to Las Vegas. So it's a sin not to believe?

E: God can't forgive you for not believing.

U: Why would God need to forgive me, unless it's a sin.

E: It is.

U: Jesus didn't die for that?

E: Jesus died for all your sins.

U: Except that one?

E: Look, God loves you but he is also just.

U: God's love and his justice are an intrinsic incongruity?

E: Well you can't go to Heaven and Hell at the same time.

U: So God's limited love eventually bows out under the pressure of his unlimited justice.

E: He can't allow sin to go unpunished.

U: I thought you said he took care of that problem.

E: Look, you need to make a decision for Christ.

U: I need to do something to save myself?

E: You can't save yourself. Only Jesus can do it.

U: Only Jesus can save me, but it's up to me to do it?

E: Yes, er... No.

U: I need Jesus to save me from Jesus, who does what he doesn't want to do, punishing me for sin that's fully paid for, having died for all my sins except the one I really need covered, and only Jesus can save me, but He's waiting for me to do it?

E: You just don't get it.

U: Thank God.
