Please consider how perfectly God's plan and purpose for His creation is laid out for us within the pages of the scriptures. Paul makes it very clear that ALL is out of God and through Jesus Christ (1 Cor. 8:6, compare Rom. 11:36). God is working ALL according to His purposes (Eph. 1:11b). Christ died for the sins of ALL (1 Tim. 2:6, 1 John 2:2, John 1:29b). ALL will be made alive in Christ (1 Cor. 15:22). God will subject ALL under Christ in the end and Christ Himself then will be subject to the Father, and God will be ALL in ALL (1 Cor. 15:22-28, compare Phil. 2:10, Col. 1:20, and Rom. 11:32). If you remove the last two ALL statements, then rebellion against God never ceases! God would be in constant and eternal conflict with a majority of His creation! Orthodoxy teaches that the majority of humankind will spend eternity in torment, never reconciled to God. This absolutely contracts the last two ALL statements above which come directly out of pages of the Bible. Orthodoxy correctly teaches that those who are not given faith during this current age of grace will be judged according to their acts before the white throne (Rev. 20:12). After this judgment, they will be cast into the lake of fire, which is the second death (Rev. 20:14). It is at this point that orthodoxy strays from direct statements out of the Bible and turns to doctrines of eternal torment or eternal spiritual death or eternal separation from God. We can find rest and assurance believing the plain statement that the lake of fire is the second death (i.e. the unconscious state of death). We can also glorify God and have assurance that His purpose will be accomplished and in the end death will be abolished and God will be ALL in ALL (1 Cor. 15:28).
