The secret of my success (06/18/2006)
From: Bill Steidtmann

A: Whacha doin?

B: Reading that article in the Post a couple weeks ago that Bill Steidtmann wrote.

A: The one where Satan lives in Heaven? How absurd is that?

B: Yeah, but what really gets me is he said that the Lake of Fire is not eternal.

A: How blind do you have to be to think that?

B: Blind and beyond blind! Look, here's Revelation 20:10... "And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night FOR EVER AND EVER."

A: That's even longer than forever! God must really mean it when he says it like that.

B: There's really only two possibilities... either Bill is so blinded by his need to remove Hell from the Bible that he literally cannot see these plain words of scripture, or he's deliberately trying to deceive us!

A: It must be that he's blinded. Blinded by Satan!

B: He used to be such a good church-goer too. It's just sad to see someone fall away like that.

A: Sad.

B: It happens sometimes.

A: If only God would open his eyes to the truth.

B: And give him the strength to speak it!

A: We need to pray for him.

B: Yes, like the prayers in Ephesians chapter one, and three. You can start...

A: Lord God, we pray that you would have mercy on that evil heretic Bill Steidtmann, that you, the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto him the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of you: The eyes of his understanding being enlightened; that you would grant him, according to the riches of your glory, to be strengthened with might by your Spirit in the inner man; Unto you be glory in the church by Christ Jesus for all the generations of the age of the ages. Amen.

B: Woe, wo, wait a second. You said it wrong. It's "...throughout all ages, world without end. Amen."

A: That can't be right. I've heard you say it a million times: "The End of the World".

B: TOU AIONOS TON AIONON ... means "world without end". Duh.

A: I don't see the words "world", "without", or "end" anywhere in that phrase.

B: True, but when God means "forever" that's how he says it. So the translators simply replaced God's actual words with what God meant to say. They're doing you a favor.

A: You're sure?

B: Absolutely.

A: Praise God for dynamic equivalence!

B: And thank God we prayed for Bill. Hopefully we'll begin to see some results.

A: Before someone dares to ask or think about the salvation of all mankind!

B: Why do you say that?

A: Ephesians 3:20.
