Heath to be featured in Sports Illustrated (12/10/2003)
It is official! Garrett Heath, Winona Senior High School senior and a standout scholar/athlete, will be featured in the Faces in the Crowd section of the December 15 edition of Sports Illustrated for his outstanding athletic accomplishments. His athletic resume is one to marvel at. In the last twelve months Garrett has claimed the Minnesota AA Cross-Country championship title twice (November 2003 and November 2003) three Minnesota AA Nordic Ski championships (5K freestyle, classic and pursuit in February of 2003), and two Minnesota AA track championships (1660 meters and 3200 meters in June 2003). Garrett's November 2003 cross-country win broke the state record. It is no wonder Sports Illustrated took an interest in him! A press conference has been scheduled with Heath for 9:30 am on Monday, December 15 at Winona Senior High School.

On December 13, Heath will participate as one of only 32 young male athletes from across the country in a national cross-country meet in San Diego's Balboa Park. He has signed a letter of intent to attend Stanford University in the Fall of 2004. Garrett Heath is the son of Bob and Linda Heath of Winona.
