Group A: Scripture teaches that human nature is good but that our nature has been corrupted by mortality and sin.
Group B: Humans are totally depraved yet teach there is something good in humanity that allows some to choose Christ.
Group A: Christ alone saves.
Group B: Christ needs you to make a free will decision to believe in Him before He can save you thus making the phrase "Christ alone saves" false.
Group A: Christ's work on the cross saved all humans.
Group B: Christ's work on the cross saved no humans.
Group A: Christ's death destroyed the eternal effects of sin and death.
Group B: Christ death did not destroy the eternal effects of sin and death. Most humans will continue to sin and die in an "eternal death" in hell.
Group A: You cannot boast about going to heaven because it is solely a result of Christ's work.
Group B: You should not boast about going to heaven but it is your own fault if you go to hell - very confusing.
Group A: God is sovereign over all things.
Group B: Your will is free of God's sovereignty.
Group A: The conclusion of the age is spoken about in Mt. 13:,39,49; 24:3;28:20 and is looked forward to with great anticipation. It is not the end of the world, but will trigger the beginning of the next age - a better one.
Group B: Those same verses speak about the end of the world and sell many books and pack large conferences concerning it through creating fear and doubt among many.
Group A: There are no contradictions in Scripture.
Group B: Apparent contradictions are spoken of as "mysteries".
Group A believes that God ultimately reconciles the universe according to His plan for the ages as presented in Scripture. He uses both good and evil to bring that about. Evil will end and good will remain. Group B, in general, includes all of Christian orthodoxy with its many and varied sects and believes it is God's purpose to have two results for His creation - one endlessly good and one endlessly evil.
If I have unfairly or inaccurately represented Group B please respond.
