Heath honored by Dist. 861 (12/17/2003)

At a press conference held Monday, December 15 at WSHS, Gay Mortensen, WAPS Communications Coordinator presented Garrett Heath with a framed copy of the December 15th edition of Sports Illustrated where he is featured in the Faces in the Crowd section. Mortensen submitted a narrative describing Heath's extraordinary accomplishments as a scholar and an athlete to Sports Illustrated. The magazine quickly recognized that Heath is definitely an outstanding young man worthy of recognition and decided to feature him in the Sportman of the Year edition. Garrett has, in the last twelve months(Nov '02-Nov '03) claimed seven Minnesota State AA championship titles and is one of the top ten male high school runners in the nation. He is a senior at WSHS and the son of Bob and Linda Heath.
