Fear nothing -except...! (10/08/2006)
From: David Foss

Galesville, Wis.

What kind of a world would we be living on if we had no honor, reverence or respect for God?...if we had no conscience? Most of us would have to "Fort Knox" (fortify) our homes because of the rampant criminal element. Obviously, God has given us consciences as a deterrent to evil. Our fear (honor, reverence and respect) of God is a deterrent to evil; our fear (honor, reverence, and respect of man and his word) can become a deterrent to good - speaking of cults, pagan religions, evil organizations and evil men and women. Proverbs 29:25A, Luke 12:4-5

We have nothing to fear if we have accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. If we are not saved, we do have something to fear. We are to fear those who would have us believe in doctrine other than that which our heavenly Father has given to us. Matthew 10:28, II Peter 2:1-3, Romans 16:17-18, Proverbs 14:12

We shouldn't fear anything during our lifetime if we abide by the instruction in God's manual. II Timothy 1:7, Deuteronomy 31:8, Joshua 1:9, Psalm 27:1. We can experience joy that is full and joy that remains. John 15:11 Heavenly and lasting joy (eternal joy) come from God; earthly joy is temporal and comes from man. Heavenly joy is far greater than any joy that man could produce. Romans 15:13, Psalm 35:9, Isaiah 61:10, Habakkuk 3:18

If we only have honor, reverence and respect for man, then we can expect God's wrath. Ephesians 5:6, Romans 1:18, John 3:36 Are we not to be fearful of God's judgment if we choose the Godless directives in the errant, man-inspired books of cults and pagan religions, while rejecting the God-breathed directives in God's book? Titus 3:10, II Corinthians 13:5, II Timothy 3:5 Does God's word teach that we have nothing to fear if we follow man's untruthful message instead of God's truthful message? Are chicken hawks poultry? Yes, God wants us to enjoy our life on earth, but He wants us to clearly understand that there will be direful consequences for rejecting Him and His word. Luke 16:15, Isaiah 55:7-8, II Corinthians 4:3-4 (consequences of being "lost").

If God were to take fear out of the picture, our world would become decadent beyond belief. The absence of the deterrent (fear) to evil would definitely lead to a rapid acceleration of even more evil. Without fear of disciplinary action or punishment, most individuals would do those things that would be an abomination to God; therefore, fear is not a bad thing. Fear protects us from many dangers and many evils. Fear of transgression and heresy is beneficial to us; it is not a detriment to us.

God doesn't want us to walk through life on pins and needles. He wants us to have a happy, peaceful life, but He leaves this choice up to us: we can choose to obey Him or to disobey Him. Joshua 24:15-24

If God is our heavenly Father, our lives can be void of fear. If we fear God (honor, revere, and respect Him), we will be happy. Psalm 112:1, Proverbs 28:14, Psalm 128:1

Cults and pagan religions rely on fear and deception to keep their condemned flocks from going astray. God-fearing, Bible-believing churches rely on God and His truth to keep their saved flocks from going astray.

Fear nothing - except... Him (God) who is able to destroy both body and soul in hell. Matthew 10:28

Ponder Proverbs 15:26, 28, Psalm 37:30-32, Proverbs 18:2,5,7
