SEMI PRIVATE SWIM LESSONS
The American Red Cross Learn to Swim program is an opportunity for swimmers of all ages and abilities to develop their swimming and water safety skills. These lessons are a positive learning experience which focus on each swimmer's skills. The benefits of a class of five or fewer swimmers will be seen in progression, confidence and development of new skills. Instructors are certified and experienced. Five Sessions run from October 9-March 26. Classes are Monday and Wednesdays, held at the Winona Middle School Pool, each session runs for 6 weeks, times are either 5 or 6 p.m. Cost is $29 resident or $39 non-resident. ADULT TOUCH FOOTBALL RULE OF THE WEEK
The quarterback upon receiving the snap, can ground the ball immediately whether under the center or in shotgun formation. This is only legal to stop the clock and not legal during running time, intent is to stop the clock. If this would occur during running time, the play would be considered intentionally grounding the ball. Penalty: 5 yards and loss of down.
MEN'S & WOMEN'S ADULT BASKETBALL
REGISTRATION-NOW OPEN
Team registration is now being taken at the Park & Recreation Office for Men's and Women's Basketball. The deadline for this registration is Tuesday, November 7, 2006 at 4:30 p.m., with play anticipated to begin the last week of November or first week in December and finish in Mid-March. To register, contact the Park & Recreation office to be sent the registration information. If you have any further questions, call the Park & Rec. Office at 457-8258.
BASKETBALL OFFICIALS NEEDED
The Winona Park & Recreation Department is in need of Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) Certified or Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) Certified Basketball Officials to work our Adult Men's and Women's Basketball games. YOU MUST BE A CERTIFIED OFFICIAL TO WORK ANY OUR GAMES. To receive certification information for Minnesota, you must contact the MSHSL office at (763) 560-2262. The closest Minnesota meeting to us is held on Thursday, November 2, 2006 at Rochester Mayo High School Cafeteria at 7:00 p.m. OR Thursday, November 9, 2006 at Austin, Annex Aud. At 7 p.m. To receive certification information for Wisconsin, you must contact the WIAA office at (715-344-8580) and they will send you the necessary information.
ADULT BASKETBALL SCOREKEEPER/TIMERS NEEDED
The Winona Park & Recreation Department is in need of scorekeepers/timers for our Adult Men's and Women's Basketball games. Our leagues begin the last week of November or first week in December, ending in Mid-March. We have Men's Division's I & II playing on Monday nights and Division III on Thursday nights at Winona State University. Our Women's league plays on Wednesday nights at the New Middle School. If you are interested in being a scorekeeper/timer for our Adult Basketball Leagues, please stop in at the Park & Rec. office in the basement of City Hall to pick up an application and availability form as soon as possible, or call our office at 457-8258 and we can send you the forms.
