When reading your article in the Post, we were reminded of our mother's "Brush with the Famous."
Our mother, Marie Kohner, recently passed away at the age of 97. While going through her things, we ran across a picture of her dancing with Lawrence Welk.
The story goes like this. Mom and Dad had gone to the Oaks nightclub for an evening of dancing to the Lawrence Welk Band. Mr. Welk had a singing contest and the winner could dance with anyone in his band. Mom was selected as the winner and of course she chose the bandleader.
Enclosed is a picture of the two dancing at the Oaks. This was one of her fondest memories.
