My one and only claim to fame where I met a famous TV personality was in 1969. My mother had passed away on March 20. I wanted to go visit relatives in California - an aunt and uncle (mother's side). I flew out there - my very first plane ride! I was 16 and nervous! But hey, back then people on domestic flights were guaranteed a hot meal, unlike today, unless you are in first class. They even charge for snacks these days.
They served chicken and rice pilaf, but I think the food was spoiled as I got deathly ill in a few hours. Anyway, while waiting for my ride at the L.A. airport (my relatives), I saw another man waiting too. Looked familiar. It was Lorne Greene from "Bonanza" TV Western fame. Our family was a fan of that show.
I walked over to him hurriedly, which drew unwanted attention to him! I got his autograph on a bank deposit slip. Only a few people came over to greet him.
