CHS celebrates basketball victories Feb. 3 (01/24/2007)
Cotter High School will celebrate the 70th, 30th and 25th anniversaries of the State Championships won by the 1937, 1977 and 1982 Boys Basketball teams on February 3rd at the Barb Bischel Gymnasium, 360 Vila Street. That evening, both the Cotter Boys and Girls Varsity teams will play Kingsland at 6:00 PM and 7:30 PM, respectively. Members of the ‘77 and ‘82 teams, as well as the cheerleaders that cheered them on to victory have been invited to the games, and will be recognized at halftime of the Cotter Boys game.

The February 3rd games could have playoff implications for all involved. As of the last rankings from Minnesota Basketball News, all 4 teams were ranked in the Top 10 in Class 2A. The Cotter Boys are ranked #8, while the Kingsland Boys are ranked #3. The Cotter Girls, meanwhile, are ranked #2 in Class 2A, and the Kingsland girls hold the #5 ranking.

Besides being a night to celebrate past glory, and to cheer on the present Cotter basketball squads, the evening of February 3rd will be a time to help Cotter's future, with the first Cotter Auction collection party. If you were planning on making a donation to this year's Cotter Auction, you can bring your items to the games that evening! Cotter Auction volunteers will be on hand to accept Auction donations. The first 25 people to donate Auction items at the Boys and Girls games will be placed into a drawing for Cotter prizes. Drawings will be held during halftime of both games.

Cotter will also honor their latest State Champions that evening, as the banner for the 2006 Softball State Champions will be unveiled. Tickets for the basketball games will be available at the door, and are $5.

Please be a part of the celebration, as Cotter salutes it's past, present and future. For more information on the evening, or how to donate to the Cotter Auction, please contact Development Director Megan Strange at 453-5102, or Alumni & Events Coordinator Justin Barrientos at 453-5132.
