"KE-double-NEDY, Jack's the nation's favorite guy, everyone's going to back Jack, because Jack is on the right track," etc. etc. (sung to the tune of High Hopes).
It was 1962 and Senator John F. Kennedy along with his wife Jackie, were campaigning for Jack to become president. The campaign stop was Madison, Wisconsin, and he was delivering his message in the auditorium of Saint Mary's School of Nursing. I was a student nurse at the time, and a group of us were selected by Sister Mary Suzanne to form a choral group. Oh joy, we were so excited. I had the great good luck to stand next to him while we were singing the campaign song. When we were finished he learned over to me and said, "You have a very nice voice." What a memorable moment. Thank you for letting me share this with your readers.
The other two men on the photo are Gaylord Nelson, Governor (left) and Mayor Nestigan (right).
