Refuge seeking entries for duck stamp design (02/07/2007)
|
|
Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge (Refuge) is coordinating Minnesota's Federal Junior Duck Stamp Design and Conservation Program (Junior Duck Stamp). Ongoing for fifteen years, this conservation program "teaches conservation through the arts" using an art and science-based curriculum to expose all school-aged children in grades K-12 to migratory waterfowl. The program is available to public and private schools, home schools, after-school programs, and individuals. Once the children have learned about waterfowl and habitat conservation they get a chance to express their newfound knowledge by drawing, painting or sketching a picture of a North American goose, duck, or swan. The drawings can then be submitted to the Minnesota Junior Duck Stamp Design Contest. The Refuge is the receiving site for the art; entries are due by March 15, 2007. For entry forms, educational activities or more information visit the Minnesota Junior Duck Stamp website at: www.fws.gov/midwest/minnesotavalley/jr_duck
