Fifteen hundred people have already pre-registered for the 18th annual Upper Midwest Organic Farming Conference, set for the La Crosse Center in La Crosse, WI, on February 22-24.
Along with sixty practical, how-to workshops designed to help farmers make the transition to organic farming, and an exhibit hall with 130 organic suppliers and processors, this year's conference will also focus on developing priorities for the 2007 Farm Bill, the legislation which will govern the USDA's food and agriculture programs for the next five years.
Wisconsin Senator Herb Kohl is expected to attend the conference on Friday, February 23rd. Kohl chairs the Senate Agriculture Appropriations sub-committee in Washington, D.C.
Reigistration is $190 for the conference, which includes activities on Thursday evening, all day Friday and Saturday, as well as breakfast and lunch. Food and drink at the conference is organically and locally produced whenever possible. For complete information, visit www.mosesorganic.org or contact the MOSES office at 715-772-3153.
