On Saturday, February 24th, the Winona YMCA WINFINS participated in the State YMCA swim meet at the University of Minnesota. Winona placed fourth out of twenty-two teams. The Winfins were awarded the most points scored in the Girls 18 & Under Group. As a team, they earned fourteen first place medals, twelve-second place medals, seven third place medals and eleven fourth place medals. First place finishers were:
Louise Bagshaw, Abby Staats, Roxie Pingry, Aimee Peterson in the 18 & under 200 Medley Relay
Aimee Peterson, Roxie Pingry, Kristina Kleinow, Abby Staats in the 18 & under 200 Free Relay
Hodd Gorman, Calvin Dretske, Roger Brosnahan, Aaron Whyte in the10 & under 200 Medley Relay
Roger Brosnahan in the 10 & under 50 fly, 50 free, and 100 free
Roxie Pingry in the 18 & under 200 IM and 100 fly
Hanna O'Neill in the 8 & under 25 fly
Alexandra Zuelke in the 12 & under 100 free
Calvin Dretske in the 10 & under 50 breast
Abby Staats in 18 & under 50 free, 100 free and 100 breast. Abby Staats broke two YMCA State pool records in the 50 free (24.59s) and 100 free (54.01s).
