The University of Minnesota Extension's Soybean Aphid and Corn Rootworm Rendezvous will be on Tuesday March 20 at the Digger's in Kasson (401 SE 8th Street, just south of Hwy 14).
Featured topics will be "Management of soybean aphids and the changing dynamics of corn rootworms". Dr. Kenneth Ostlie, University of Minnesota Extension Entomologist, St. Paul, will lead an open discussion on how to manage corn rootworms in changing crop rotations and the role and impact of CRW corn for the management of rootworms. Ostlie will also discuss soybean aphid scouting, economic thresholds levels, how to manage late season aphid populations, and other strategies to reduce yield impacts. This pest has been very dynamic and no two years have painted the same scenario. Open discussion is encouraged and the main goal of this program, so bring your questions and join in. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m., with the program from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The registration fee is $10/person, which includes refreshments, room charges and materials. Continuing education credits (CEU's) will be available.
